What Is Counselling at ACTS?

ACTS counselling services provide a safe, supportive, and culturally grounded space for Black, Indigenous, and Minoritized youth and their families. We seek to work with our community members along their healing journey by exploring their emotions, experiences, and personal challenges. Our approach focuses on healing, empowerment, and building resilience through person-centered and trauma-responsive care.

Services

Counselling & Coaching

Group and individual sessions within safe, inclusive, and culturally grounded spaces for minoritized, ethnocultural, and low-income backgrounds across Canada. We encourage community members to come together for shared healing, peer connection, and meaningful dialogue. These sessions are designed to foster trust, respect, and a strong sense of belonging, while encouraging open and honest conversations around resilience, racial trauma, identity, and mental wellness. Through guided discussions, peer learning, and community engagement, participants are supported in building coping skills, strengthening relationships, and developing a deeper understanding of their experiences. Our approach promotes collective healing, empowerment, and long-term well-being within individuals, families, and the broader community.
Volunteering with ACTS has been a truly rewarding experience. The difference they make in the community is meaningful, and I’m grateful to be part of this impactful work.

Individual Counselling

Personalized one-on-one sessions in a confidential and supportive space where youth and family members can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. We provide support for stress, anxiety, depression, identity, grief, and trauma using culturally grounded, person centered, and trauma-responsive approaches.

Youth & Family Counselling

Support for youth and their families to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and navigate cultural expectations, generational differences, and life transitions together in a respectful and supportive environment.
